Prince Rupert's Rampage had the Halloween weekend off from action in the CIHL, giving the team time to regroup in preparation for their second home game of the season this Saturday against the Kitimat Ice Demons.
With the Rampage yet to officially be credited with a win (their one victory of the year thus far was forfeited to Terrace due to issues of the carding of eligible player), the opportunity to finally crack the official win column will come against a struggling Kitimat team, which is off to a slow start this season with a 1 and 3 record so far on the season.
Game time Saturday, November 6th will be 8 pm at the Jim Ciccone Civic Centre.
The Rampage however did have a successful week at the league head office, as Prince Rupert was awarded the 2011 Coy Cup Championships, with the Rampage acting as the host city, they will be automatically awarded one of the three spots in the Senior Men's Championship scheduled to take place from March 8 to 12.
CIHL action this week was light, with only three games scheduled over the Halloween weekend.
Smithers took both games of a weekend doubleheader, the Saturday night match a penalty and fight filled affair at the home of the Steelheads. While Saturday, featured a chippy affair over at Burns Lake, with the officials also having their hands full and assessing a number of unusual penalties from a failure to go the bench major as well as misconducts over abusive and obscene language, as well as penalties for abuse of officials.
The results were as follows
Saturday: Smithers Steelheads 11 Omenica Ice 3
Saturday: Burns Lake Braves 7 Houston Luckies 4
Sunday: Smithers Steelheads 8 Omenica Ice 1
