Lights, camera, oysters!

A new Prince Rupert eatery is set to open its doors to the city on Wednesday and when it does one of the more interested in observers in how the debut proceeds is going to be a Canadian celebrity chef.

David Adjey, host of The Food Network's The Opener, has been offering his input to the local owners of the new venture, all set to the lead up to the opening of Dave's Oyster Bar, which has moved into the old Pegleg's location at Mariner's Park and will seek to become the city's newest gastronomic trendsetter.

Adjey has brought his Food Network cameras and his tough love approach to restaurant development to film a segment for his show, which takes neophyte restaurant owners and films their progress as they prepare to serve up their first plates of food.

Along the way to opening day, the travails and tribulations of the restaurant industry and the always nerve wracking process of debuting a new restaurant is chronicled for feature on the program.

The TV show's website then tracks the success ( or in some cases the lack of) of the new restaurant, providing the restaurant with national exposure.

Word of the celebrity chef's arrival on the scene first was revealed on the local information portal hackingthemainframe, which has been providing updates on the developments ever since see here and here.

No details as to the scheduling of the Dave's Oyster Bar segment has been announced yet on the TV show's website. The Opener airs regularly on the Food Network you can access their schedule here.
