The spy who came in for the cola

The counter espionage unit at Coca Cola has once again outwitted those that wish the cola maker ill will, yet another group of spies has been caught by the Atlanta soft drink maker. In what can only be described as something out of Mad magazine, the spy vs. spy routine netted three suspects accused of stealing confidential information about Coke, including a sample of a new drink and trying to sell it all to rival pop maker Pepsi.

The battle for market share between Coke and Pepsi is legendary, almost worrisome in fact as the two makers of sugary carbonated products occasionally resemble participants in the old Cold War as opposed to the Cola Wars.

The three caught today, include an administrative assistant who was kept busy rifling through drawers looking for files and smuggling a sample of a new Coke product out of the offices.

Coke said that they will review their internal security precautions and no doubt keep closer tabs on their employees. No word on if they plan on launching a retaliatory strike on their cola rival. However, since the folks at Pepsi participated in the investigation, the folks at Coke may not look at Pepsi as part of any evil cola empire.

As you can see all this commercial enterprise is rather serious, as market share and profit and loss statements can rise or fall on a simple piece of information.

We await further outbreaks of hostilities in other sectors, perhaps finally we now will learn those secret herbs and spices in the barrel of the colonels finest, if people really eat the red Smarties last, can you really eat just one Lays chip and exactly how they get the Caramilk into a Caramilk bar!
