You would think that some things would be considered sacred, but apparently when it comes to beer sodden jerks, nothing is beyond utter dis-regard.
CTV.ca features the picture of one particular jack ass, who was caught urinating on the National War Memorial on Canada Day evening. He was among a group of several hooligans who chose to use the national monument as a urinal.
This particularly dis-respectful, not to mention disgusting act, has also been splashed across the Ottawa newspapers and television stations in hopes that local citizens will rise to the occasion and identify the moron (and his friends) for future punishment. It even caught the attention of the Prime Minister who expressed his dismay at the dis-respectful nature of the incident.
The Ottawa Police have re-assured the veterans who were there and obviously offended by the act, that they will find try to the perpetrators and press charges to the full extent of the law.
The incident has rekindled the debate about security around the monument and the tomb of the unknown soldier also on the site, with many veterans demanding that the government provide much better security around the nation's monument to the fallen. The suggestion is drawing mixed reactions in Ottawa, some agree that something needs to be done while others are concerned about ever increasing security systems already in place in the Capitol.
But if we may tongue in cheek suggest, that perhaps a small change is not a bad idea, maybe task a crack group of snipers on each corner of the square, we can guarantee that the crack shots of the Canadian Army would pretty well take care of any urinating or defacing of the monument in the future.
Then again judging by the quality of the people that would do such a disgusting act, there probably isn't much of a target to shoot at after all!
