One rich guys a chatty Cathy, while the other rich guy is Silent Sam..

While Donald Trump was busy blasting the US government over its handing of matters foreign and domestic, another well known rich fellow was keeping a rather subdued approach to more personal matters.

Conrad Black, the Canadian and Global publishing magnate, British Lord (for now), re-applicant for Canadian citizenship and currently standing as the accused in a US court case, has been uncharacteristically quiet. Black who normally is quick to offer quotes on any occasion, has by the count of the Globe and Mail uttered but 12 words thus far in his defence in court in Chicago.

Ian Brown examines the case of the Quiet Conrad in an article in the Globe and Mail. In it Brown recounts some of his more palaverous pronouncements of past, compared with the rather parsimonious platitudes of today.

We can only guess that in the world of the rich and mighty, the more that you have to lose, means that you have less and less to say...
