The salmon farm industry has found itself stopped south of Prince Rupert, as the contentious issue of salmon farming once again comes to the forefront of provincial debate.
The Tyee has an interesting article over the setbacks to the plans of the Norwegian multi-national Pan Fish to set up an open net fish farm fifty miles south of Prince Rupert at Strout's Point at the southern reach of the Skeena River.
Pan company which has provincial approval to operate coastal fish farms, finds itself stopped in its tracks as a dispute over aboriginal fishing rights could end up scuttling it's current operations and any ambitious plans the company once might have had.
The entire scenario from the start to the current impasse, is explained in great detail in Sarah Cox's article, which you can check out here to gain a better understanding of the debate over the northward march of salmon farming.
