Other council items:
City's Centennial-- The task force for Prince Rupert's Centennial Celebrations will be announcing a logo contest on April 27. Toward the end of May the committee will select the top 10 logos from the entries and then council will choose the final one.
City Finances-- An audit of the city's financial statements is almost complete and it is hoped that the financial statements will be ciruclated at the April 27 council meeting. A community budget presentation is scheduled for April 16 at 7:00 p.m. in Council Chambers.
Economic Development Officer-- The selection process is continuing and an announcement of who has been hired should be made soon.
Duncan Road Sewage Pump Station-- Bob Thompson, City Engineer, has started work on a significant works project at Duncan Road where the City has recently awarded the work to prepare the design and tender documents.
2010 Torch Relay-- City Recreation Manager Michael Curnes is assembling a Community Task Force to oversee planning and execution of Prince Rupert's Community Celebration to Welcome the Olympic Torch.
School District Budget-- The school district will be holding its next meeting on May 6 at Charles Hays Secondary School at 7 p.m. People are encouraged to go to the School District's Website and attend the meeting to have input on next year's budget.
