CityWest prepares to meet the customers
Tonight's the night, December 5th the long anticipated chance to rub elbows with the new board of directors of CityWest Telephone and Cable, learn about new technologies and maybe ask a few questions about your digital cable service and other items from the world of technology.
The 7 pm meeting at the Crest Hotel, marks the first public meeting for the Prince Rupert based Communications company since it changed its terms of operation and liberated itself from its status as a city department and turned it into an incorporated company with the city acting as the company's sole shareholder . A decision which has had the initial impact of reducing the annual dividend provided to the city from the city owned phone and cable company.
The meeting which was announced back in late October, was in response to increasing expressions of concern from taxpayers, residents and service users who were becoming worried about the direction that their locally owned company was taking of late.
With a new digital cable just recently launched and the arrival of digital communication seemingly on the way (not to mention competition from a major Canadian player), there should be more than enough topics for discussion for tonight's session.
