34 first year students at the Fuqua Shcool of business at Duke University have been caught in a cheating scandal. Making it the largest bout of cheating to be discovered since 2005.
The thirty four were caught when a professor noticed similarities in answers by students on a take-home test.
No doubt they might have used the "team building approach" common to many businesses these days, but in the end they had to face the music. From outright expulsion, to one year suspensions and failing grades. the thirty four students will feel the heat of university justice.
This after they violated the University's Honour code a rather important piece of university procedure at Duke. As is their right, the accused have a right to an appeal a process which will take about a month. Good practice for later on in their careers we assume, should they stray again.
If the University decision is upheld, some of the students won't be back for year two obviously, while others will have to extend their studies by a year or more to atone for their dishonest work.
Or maybe they'll just join a Wall street firm and get a head start on felons finishing school.
