It was a nasty surprise of a morning for most of Canada today, as gasoline prices jumped up at the pump , due to a number of factors far beyond the control of your local retailer, but ones that don't wash with those that fill up their tanks.
Montreal motorists suddenly were faced with a pump price of 1.18 a litre, from there the pricing increases moved westward with Vancouver heading as high as 1.28 as motorists went in to work this morning.
Locally, Petro Can continues to post a price of 1.14 at Hays Cove, the remainder of the downtown stations were still selling at 1.11 by mid morning, but one wonders how long that “bargain” price will be left on the board.
The high price at the moment seems to be Vancouver area stations that are retailing at 1.28 topping even the 1.24 of isolated Labrador City, Newfoundland and Labrador.
Those looking for a cheap fill up are advised to head for Lethbridge, Alberta, retailers there are holding the line at just below a buck a litre, with gas selling for 96 cents a litre, making it almost worth the drive eh!
