Britney Spears latest comeback attempt stumbled a bit in Las Vegas on Sunday, as the now past prime time pop princess opened the MTV Awards show with an unusual number.

The video has been quick to make it to the You Tube, Live Leak platforms to be shared with countless millions who couldn’t be bothered to sit through the entire showcase of pop culture’s latest heroes.

Ms. Spear’s performance was a tad bizarre, not so much dancing as walking through her show opening performance as though it were just another rehearsal session.

If Mama Spears ever paid for dance lessons, she should immediately head for court and seek redress for her grievances, the rest of us should probably just cover our eyes in horror.

At about one minute and a bit, some male dancers come on and drag the various female dancers accompanying Ms. Spears off the stage, we assume to safety… sadly the dancers broke free and returned to the train wreck.

A quick pan of the audience apparently shows fellow stars of the current flavor, looking on astonished at what they see, bemused, amused and singularly unenthused.

The song is called Gimme More, we suspect the outcry may be for LESS, much, much Less…
