Former US President immortalized in Michigan farm maze

It's one of the more unusual tributes we suppose to a former President, but in its way probably a rather appropriate one. Somehow, we can just picture this fellow wandering his way through the creation.

Gull Meadow Farms near Richland, Michigan each year cuts a maze out of its corn fields a tradition that has entertained the locals for a number of years now. However, instead of the traditional pathways of false corridors and long winding trails to nowhere, this year they celebrated the life of the 38th President of the United States, Gerald Ford who passed away last December at the age of 93.

It's yet another strange bit of pop culture that the Ford estate can claim, he once provided the material that launched the career of Chevy Chase who portrayed his stumbling ways of office into television and movie success.

He's also one of the few Presidents to be portrayed in cartoon form his appearance in animation on the Simpson's is still one of the great episodes of that particular show (though his predecessors appearance as a head on Futurama is probably another pivotal political animation highlight).

For a reminder of the comedic stylings of the man in the maze, here's the Simpson's episode featuring Homer and Ger, just two good buddies hanging out.
