How does a fire break out in a ghost town?

CFTK TV has a report on their website about a fire which destroyed 12 units in a three storey apartment complex in the abandoned mining town of Kitsault.

The town was purchased two years ago, by an American investor with dreams of restoring it and making it into an eco tourism destination.
.
Since that time, not much has been heard of the progress of that plan, let alone the status of the town site itself. While occassionally contractors work on the site to renovate town site buildings, for the most part the town is abandoned and has only a caretaker as its resident.

There were a number of people fighting the fire on the ground and helicopters attacked the blaze from the air on Friday to bring the blaze under control.

Fire has destroyed part of an apartment complex in the vacant old mining town of Kitsault, north of Prince Rupert.

Thornhill Fire Chief Wes Patterson flew to the scene as an observer yesterday.

He says the blaze had destroyed 12 units in the three-storey complex when he arrived around 1 o'clock and was burning through 12 more.

Patterson says two helicopters were bucketting the blaze and several people on the ground were dousing it with fire hoses.

An American millionaire bought the abandoned community two years ago and has been doing maintenance and some restoration.

He's talked about turning the town into an eco-tourism destination or an artists'colony.
