Northern Health and the School District 57 in Prince George are working together on a situation that saw advisories sent out to parents of children attending Pineview school in that city, all a result of a hot lunch provided by a local business which was found to be under cooked.
Children and their parents were advised of what to look for after a meal of chicken strips and jojos provided for the school was not cooked properly leading to concerns over stomach illnesses and possible salmonella poisoning.
A possible 137 students could be affected by the situation which took place on Wednesday, though as of Thursday afternoon only six students had been flagged a potentially suffering the ill effects of the meal, however, local health authorities cautioned that there was a 48 hour incubation period to be concerned about.
The local establishment had not been publicly identified by Thursday but had voluntarily closed pending an inspection into the situation, however with the Northern health inspection records a public file, and it will eventually be identified.
Opinion 250 first provided details of the situation here, and then updated the file through the day with reports after a press conference from Northern Health and with a further update later in the day.
