CN buys some horses to work the Container Port run

"We're excited about Prince Rupert's future, and we'll be ready to take full advantage of the port's potential."

Now there's a quote for the Don Krusel bulletin board, as Canadian National Railways announced that they had just purchased options on 50 high horse power locomotives, destined to position the railway to take advantage of increased traffic levels along the CNR northern line from Prince Rupert to the rest of North America.

The locomotives known as SD70M-2 locomotives have horsepower of 4,300 and will be the workhorses for the railway as it ramps up it's involvement with the Container Port project when it comes on line in 2007.

E. Hunter Harrison, president and CEO of the railroad, made the announcement today proclaiming some excitement over the future of the port and CN's partnership with it in moving goods across the continent.

It should generate quite a bit of interest in the Container port and certainly delivers a vote of confidence in the development. When big business votes with its wallet one can only guess that things are progressing just fine!
