Colorado Rockie’s star pitcher Jose Mesa finds himself in a bit of trouble after last weeks beanball festival against Omar Vizquel of the San Francisco Giants. Mesa drilled the Giant’s Vizquel with an up and atter in a game last week and for his trouble now finds himself suspended for four games.
It seems that Mesa’s anger with Vizquel goes back a few years, in his book from 2002,, Vizquel was quoted as blaming Mesa his former team mate in Cleveland with the teams loss to Florida in the 1997 World Series.
For those counting at home, that’s a nine year gap of steam to boil, and while it’s Vizquel that carries the grudge, apparently Mesa isn’t particularly keen on being Vizquels continual scape goat.
Some times you just have to let the past be the past. Either that or be prepared to duck when that ball comes flying in at over 90 mph.
