Helicopter crash north of Rupert

CBC News is reporting on a helicopter crash north of Prince Rupert in the Alice arm area.

Few details have been released, though it appears that the helicopter was involved in work in the mining industry in the area.

Three people died when their helicopter went down in northwestern B.C. on Tuesday morning, according to the RCMP.

The chopper crashed in a remote marshy area near Alice Arm, about 120 kilometres northwest of Terrace.

The pilot has been identified as Randy Hildebrandt of Duncan, who was flying the Bell-206 for Quantum Helicopters of Terrrace.

A driller and a driller's aide who were involved in mining in the area also died in the crash. Their names have not been released.

Police, the coroner, and investigators from the Transportation Safety Board are all on the scene of the crash.
