Iraqi government officials are holding four cooks and a produce supplier in custody, while they try to get to the bottom of a mass food poisoning of hundreds of members at a training barracks of the 4th Police Division.
The incident is being treated as an accidental contamination, after the men fell sick after fasting during Ramadan celebrations. Though for the cooks and supplier the police ominously added to their press release; "For the moment, we are still proceeding on the basis that this was unintentional. For the moment,"
Considering the state of Iraq these days, those are hardly calming words for the accused, perhaps the best scenario that they can hope for is to have to eat the same meal as that which they provided for the police members.
