Terrace stand off comes to a peaceful end

There were some tense times in Terrace through Tuesday, as a standoff that began at 8:30 in the morning, continued on through the day until approximately twelve hours later into the night.

Terrace RCMP first received reports of a distraught man with a knife in the breakfast hours, a situation that resulted in a large number of the detachment as well as the RCMP Emergency Response team called out to the Scott Avenue home and surrounding area.

Students at two nearby schools were kept indoors as RCMP members attempted negotiations with a man who kept them at bay through the day.

The situation came to a successful end when the subject of the standoff surrendered to police and was taken to Mills Memorial Hospital for evaluation.

The Terrace Standard offered up this review of the days events, while CFTK TV 7 filed this report.
