Thursday night came to an end with a little bit of earth shaking, but apparently not enough to greatly noticed in the Prince Rupert area.
A 4.3 magnitude quake took place in the Hecate Strait region around 8 pm on Thursday, that according to the website of Natural Resources Canada, which outlines the details that the quake occurred east of Masset and was felt slightly on the Queen Charlottes and Northern Vancouver Island, but that it did not appear to have caused any damage.
There were few if any reports of the quake being felt in the Prince Rupert area. The earthquake was also reported at the USGS website, which advised that due to the low magnitude of the earthquake there would be no tsunami warning to be issued from this event, and none was provided from the Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre .
