A white water rafting expedition in the Terrace area turned tragic on the weekend as a 34 year old Terrace woman died after the raft she was travelling in overturned in heavy rapids north of Terrace.
The incident which took place around the noon hour on Saturday, saw two of three of the rafts travelling along the Kitsumkalum river tip over in the fast moving water, sending several of the rafters into the water.
Despite efforts to revive the woman, those rendering aid were unable to revive her. She was airlifted out of the river site, but pronounced dead at Mills Memorial Hospital.

The RCMP continue their investigation into the incident, no name has been released as of yet.
