No more fear of a Howard Planet!

He's back! Bar the doors, lock up the kiddies and grab that satellite radio, Howard Stern will make a triumphant return to the Canadian public on Monday. Sirius satellite Radio Canada announced today that the Howard Stern show will be made available to Canadians next week.

As we revealed in a previous podunkian posting, the absence of the shocking one was causing a bit of a disappointment to satellite radio purchasers, many of whom chose to go to the Grey market and make their purchase in the USA, thus availing themselves of Stern's brand of titillation and occasional foul vebiage. Sirius Canada did a nice bit of deflection on that issue, saying that nobody knows how large the grey market is, but one senses that they know exactly how large that market might be, it was measured in missing dollars in the Sirius Canada bank account.

Realizing that the bottom line for Sirius Canada might be unduly affected by not actually providing what many Canadians seemed to want, they reversed an earlier decision not to carry the program. Sirius Canada executives suggest that the fact he will be on a pay service should help to deflect the worries of a worried population about exposure to Stern's mischievous ways, in effect if we don't want to hear him, don't subscribe to his channel. Sirius also says that they have parental controls built into their receivers and the program can be opted out of by those that don't want to keep it on their tier of services.

The self proclaimed King of all Media's return to Canada, will count as a victory for those fanatics that started up a web based petition to include his program on the Sirius Canada service. For them Monday will be Christmas , Valentine's and maybe if we dare, even Easter Sunday all wrapped up into one event!
