Don't call us, we'll call you...

Well this certainly could make for a bit of a public relations disaster. Michael Jackson is apparently in the running to sing some of the prayers of the late Pope John Paul II.

In a project being organized without an actual Vatican blessing, the rights to 24 of the former Pontiffs best most revered prayers and chants will be put to music. It is the hope of the Italian promoter, that many of the world's entertainment A list will lend their vocal talents to the cause. Which is apparently where Jackson comes into the picture, though to think he's still on the A list leaves a lot to the imagination. Regardless, he's apparently offered up his services and the offer is being considered and negotiated!

The optics of the much in the legal news Jackson and the likewise legally involved Church, joining together might be a bit much for those at the Vatican's press department. There would no doubt be far too many questions to answer, questions that would most likely detract away from any of the spirit of the Pope's original message in his prayers and chants.

Father Giuseppe Moscati, of the Millennium Music Society is the person that is organizing the songfest and he expressed regret that the negotiations with Jackson somehow leaked out. For Father Moscati a bit of advice, perhaps check a little further up the Vatican phone list to see where the leak came from, this is what is known as a pre-emptive strike.

In the end, one just gets the feeling that this project won't have a prayer of coming to production.
