She's dethroned the King and now has four lads from Liverpool in her sights...

Records as they say are made to be broken, and today yet another long standing musical record has been passed.

Mariah Carey, who has been kicking around the music world off and on for almost twenty years now passed Elvis Presley this week with her eighteenth number one hit.

Her recording of "Touch my Body", scooted past the King setting the new plateau for aspiring musicians everywhere, as she marked the eighteenth time that she has placed on the No. 1 singles charts on the Billboard Hot 100.

While she is respectful of her company and realizes that it was a different era of music in the days of Elvis, considering the drama of career over the years it still is quite an achievement.

Next up for the Carey colossus, the Beatles who currently hold the title of most number ones on Billboard at twenty. Considering Carey is only 38, there's a very good chance that she'll be passing them in a very short period of time. Though we're not sure if her visual motif of late will last forever ...

She's also quickly becoming the Queen of the downloads, something that the Beatles and Elvis would probably never have understood, in just one week 286,000 downloads were made from the Billboard chart download page of her single, a record amount for a debut of a song from the site.

The modern day equivalent of rushing to the record store the minute the vinyl arrived in the days of Elvis and The Beatles.
.
Her latest video that supports number eighteen should have computer geeks world wide lobbying for the next chance.... to ah , uhm, er, work on her computer...
