But leave the elephants alone!

Following last weeks news that Prince Rupert was proposing a bylaw to ban a variety of wild animals from the city, Prince George has joined the rush to keep the wild kingdom out of the city limits.

Opinion 250 has details of the resolve of all but one of Prince George's council to draft a new bylaw that would prevent performances that feature exotic animals.

Only the Mayor Colin Kinsley came out against the proposed changes, Kinsley apparently having a fondness for the tusked but heavy beasts of the world. Quoted in the piece Kinsley explained why he felt as he does: "Nothing brought that more to home than the images from Bangladesh where elephants were moving vehicles out of the ditches, and helping to clear the roads following that cyclone. I just can't support this bylaw."

Perhaps he has a plan to deal with winter's snow accumulations in a less traditional way. Turning the snow shovelling over to a few strategically placed pachyderms from the Bowl, to College Heights, over to the Hart Highlands.
.
It might not be a bad idea if you think about it, after all they probably work for peanuts!
