Local harbours benefit from Federal money

The Federal Conservatives opened up their wallets today, offering close to 750,000 dollars to three North coast locations for local improvements.

The Fairview Harbour facility in Prince Rupert will see the continuation of ongoing projects such as the mooring system and repairs to the timber floats.

The Port Edward Harbour facility will see repairs and resurfacing done to the adjacent uplands areas.

And the Port Simpson Harbour site will see a number of repairs made to the deteriorating structure there to ensure that the wharf and floats remain accessible to local users.

The North coast monies were part of a larger pot of money totaling some 3.4 million dollars, that will see twelve separate projects across the province have necessary repairs or modifications made over the summer. Vancouver Island is slated to receive the bulk of that money with the Island receiving some 2.2 million for required work, while the south coast receives the remainder of the available funding some 450,000 dollars.

The Full details can be found from the press release that was issued earlier today.
