Location, Location, Location. Is it all about location?

Ah, the smell of scandal, it brings out the conspirator in everyone. Premier Gordon Campbell's, billion dollar done deal with CN for BC Rail, may be coming off the rails. With the uproar over the Legislature raids, some of the questions about the privatization deal are getting a second look, and new ones are being asked as well. Events which may slow down closure on the deal, if not cancel it completely.

The Georgia Strait puts it's spin on events and draws our attention to land in the Squamish area, now being freed up for development as part of the BCR deal. Just in time, to take advantage of the 2010 Olympic Game enthusiasm in the area. Coincidence? The Strait article suggests otherwise, tying in some of the key players in the Games bid, to would be developers in the Squamish area.

Shades of the days of Expo 86 and the development of the False Creek area, indeed some of the names are familiar from those days as well. Including Premier Campbell, who was mayor during those halcyon days of development. Events which did not go without their detractors. Are we in store for a replay of those same debates?

With renewed attention now being focused on the BCR deal, a wider net of interest is being set for our benefit. So far, it's only the media on the periphery that are trying to draw the lines and connect the dots. Should the mainstream media smell some blood, the Premier may find that the last few years have been rather pleasant, compared to what may lie ahead. The boxes taken out of the Legislature by the RCMP in December, may end up being a Pandora's box for the government. Once opened, it's unknown where the trail may lead.
