Bruce Springsteen-- The Rising

The selection for the Music Club this evening, takes us to the campaign trail of the US Presidential Election campaign.

Our YouTube portal transports us to Columbus, Ohio and a small little gathering of around 60,000 believers to the cause of Senator Barack Obama, sharing in the commune of one of the final of the whistle stops of the lengthy trail that leads to Tuesday's election.

As the crowd awaits the candidate with his themes of hope, change and a better way, an American musical icon offers up his own themes of the American scene from sea to sea, a collection of music that meshes well with Obama's political creed.

Bruce Springsteen's music is the theme of America, he offers the snapshots of the struggling towns, full of their proud residents, who have planted their seeds for the American dream, but now struggle to reap that harvest. A segment of America forgotten by the very politicians whom they elected, left on the sidelines as the political agendas of the last eight years rewarded the friends and stoked the fires of perpetual fear.

Springsteen's America is not divided up into those Blue and Red states, or true Americans or elites, his is the average Joe or Jane, before that term became a co-opted visual for the Republican party.

His offering to the campaign today was perhaps the best indication of what current the Obama campaign has sparked across the USA, a hope that these long worrisome nights of the American experience will soon be a thing of the past, with the promise a of a new beginning, a chance to make things right again and a nation that will be inclusive for all.

To listen to The Rising, is to understand what has been at stake in this campaign, it is the perfect soundtrack to take to the voting booth on Tuesday.
