Jackie Miller, president of the BC Ferry and Marine Workers Union has sent a letter to BC Ferries, announcing the intention of her union to grieve the recent dismissal of three members of the crew of the Queen of the North.
The three were terminated by the Ferry Corporation with a letter on April 24th as a result of a report from BC Ferries released in March. The report was the result of the Corporations internal investigation into the events and singled out the three workers for failure to make a key change of course that led to the events off of Gil Island in March of 2006.
Miller did not expand on the union's course of action, stating that it might compromise the grievance process.
