The Vancouver Province ran one of its short info bits in Sunday’s paper about a new bed on the market called the VIVIDUS ultra luxe bed, a rather exotic sleeping utensil from Hastens Beds that retails in the USA at $49,500.00.
So with a price tag like that, we wonder what kind of sleep you must surely get.
According to a newspaper article in the US, the Vividus, which means "full of life" in Latin, is just the latest bed to target a growing consumer appetite for high-end beds made from materials such as latex, flax, memory foam, silk, cashmere, lambswool and hand-tufted horse hair.
Apparently luxury and money have no barrier, though to be truthful, folks aren’t exactly rushing the stores to grab a Vividus and some shut eye, and thus far since the beds arrived only 12 of the handmade bastions of excess have been sold.
But the manufacturers and retailers are hopeful of increased sales soon, suggesting that consumers are more than willing to purchase high end beds to get good nights sleep and a bit of pampering. And for the Vividus all that pampering comes with a new price of $59,750.00 starting next month. So you best hurry to get the bargain berth while you can
The Luxist blog tallied up our expected sleep quota and found that if we live to the age of eighty, and spend the required eight hours a night sleeping, we will spend more than 233,600 hours in bed, and that’s not counting any other activities that might be considered for such a luxurious laying spot.
But at Over Fifty thousand dollars for a bed! You can bet that nobody, we mean nobody gets to neither drink their coffee nor nibble on toast in the morning on this one, and as for romance, well there's always the car!
