Storm causes headaches south and north

The strong winds and rain of an approaching Pacific disturbance has caused a fair amount of havoc in the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island, with Ferry crossings delayed or cancelled due to the strong winds.

Vancouver traffic was a bit of mess as well in the morning rush hour and the mid morning period was not much better, as snow fell inland and the heavy rains came ashore on coastal areas, leaving officials to close some roads and redirect traffic to others.

Power outages as well have been reported in some areas of the province , as the winds pick up with the storm's arrival

The northern portion of BC was also hard hit by winters blast, with travel adivsories issued for the Prince George area in all directions and all travel north is of particular concern with a number of accidents listed along the Alaska highway.

The coastal portion of this storm is still working its way towards the North coast with a wind warning issued for the North coast. Strong winds from the west to northwest of 60 to 90 km/ are expected, while it's expected that we will recieve 5cm of snow and over 20mm of rain expected in the next twenty four hours.
