Not everyone is crazy about Katie!

The newsheads are all a twitter today with word that Queen Katie has chosen to head over to CBS news to inherit the chair of Cronkite and Rather. As the bean counters and PR flacks debate whether Ms. Couric's arrival at the house that Murrow built will turn into a ratings (and revenue) winner or yet another mis-step, the sides are forming as to whether she'll find a home at CBS.

If nothing else her move from NBC over to CBS is generating some serious buzz in the news biz, not all of it effusive praise. A search of the Google.ca site with Katie Couric in the search engine turns up over 1700 stories dedicated to the defection today. Not all of it the makings of a parade.

Even at CBS which just ponied up some big bucks to bring her across the city there are some suggesting that it may not be money well spent. Judging by the words of Andy Rooney, while appearing on Don Imus' MSNBC show today she may not be as universally acclaimed as many are suggesting. If nothing else, keeping her and Rooney apart in the 60 Minutes cafeteria might be a sensible thing to do.
