The Environment Canada weather service is calling for a rather ugly weekend for North Coast.

RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF 70 TO 110 MM EXPECTED FOR THE NORTH COAST COASTAL SECTIONS TONIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY. RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF 40 TO 60 MM EXPECTED FOR THE NORTH COAST INLAND SECTIONS TONIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY. THIS IS A WARNING THAT SIGNIFICANT RAINFALL IS EXPECTED OR OCCURRING IN THESE REGIONS. A FRONTAL SYSTEM APPROACHING THE NORTHERN COAST OF BRITISH COLUMBIA WILL SPREAD STRONG SOUTHEASTERLY WINDS AND SIGNIFICANT RAINFALL TONIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY. WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO RISE TO SOUTHEAST 70 TO 90 KM/H OVERNIGHT TONIGHT FOR THE NORTH COAST COASTAL SECTIONS. WINDS WILL EASE SATURDAY AFTERNOON AS THE FRONT WEAKENS. A nasty wind, she will a blow
Batten down your hatches, just in time for the Thanksgiving Day weekend the first storm of the fall is set to arrive.
The Environment Canada website has issued a Wind Warning for the North coast, advising that winds from 70 to 90 kilometres will arrive on the north coast this afternoon.
The winds should ease off by this evening, however it will be wet for the next few days. Rain at times heavy through the afternoon, with accumulations of between 25 to 35 mm by Saturday morning.
The steady precipitation will continue through until Sunday afternoon when it gives way to clouds and showers.

Snowfall amounts of 15 to 25 cm through Thursday morning for North Coast - inland sections. Snowfall amounts of 10 to 15 cm for North Coast - coastal sections.
A frontal system is giving strong southeast winds to the coastal sections of the central coast. The strong winds will persist over the central coast as the front stalls over the region. Winds will ease Thursday afternoon as the front moves southward and weaken.
The stalled front will also bring heavy rain to the central coast through Thursday with total rainfall amounts of 110 to 140 mm by Thursday evening.Meanwhile snow associated with the frontal system over the north coast will continue.
Additional snowfall amount of 10 cm is expected for today and another 10 to 15 cm can be expected for tonight.

Isolated again
The latest winds and rains have wreaked a bit of havoc along the North Coast and into the Skeena Valley.
With water pooling along Highway 16 and the threat of avalanches considered very high, Highway 16 between Terrace and Prince Rupert was closed earlier today, with the highest risk area apparently in the Car Wash rock portion of the highway.
At that location reports had upwards of three feet of water or more washing over the highway from the mountain ranges, leaving more than few drivers a little nerve wracked as they came across the scene early this morning.
The avalanche situation will be re-addressed later this afternoon, but for the remainder of the afternoon at least the Highway is closed.
Things aren't much better in Terrace where the frozen ground is making for a poor sponge for the massive amounts of rain that have fallen there in the last 48 hours. The Terrace Fire Department is reporting flooding in some of the low lying areas of the city and there has been a mudslide reported in the eastern side of the city.
Environment Canada still has a heavy rainfall warning in effect for the region.

Better there, than here today!
Whether you look for your weather at the Weather Network or Environment Canada, the prognosis for the next few days is the same, Windy, Very Windy and Wet, very, very Wet!
Eight days before November arrives on the North coast, the rainy season apparently will commence. For those that have moved away from our little burg, here's a blast from your past.
For those that remain, rain coats, boots and a tie down are mandatory today.
With a wind warning and heavy rain warning issued at 5 am this morning. It's safe to say that the fall rainy season is officially underway for another year.
