Prime Time Crime fighters

“PRIME offers many exciting benefits which will allow our police officers to be more efficient and effective in their criminal investigations” -- Supt Ken Handy, Officer in Charge of the PRIME-BC Implementation.

Crime has no boundaries with PRIME, with that as talking point as well as a positioning statement, the RCMP in Northern British Columbia expanded its crime fighting abilities on Wednesday.

The Prince Rupert RCMP introduced a new tool for the fight against crime, as they rolled out a new information system for the Northern District called PRIME.

C/Supt. Barry Clark, North District Commander, described the new system as a welcome new tool in their policing tool belt. It’s an innovation which will offer the members of the North District, to have the ability to share information as well as communicate within the district and across the province.

The RCMP held a media session on Wednesday to showcase the new system and explain how it worked and where it could be best put to use.

The RCMP website for BC also provided details on the program introduced today.
