AN INVESTIGATION will commence soon into a blaze that gutted a home in which two people were found deceased this morning.

Terrace fire chief Peter Weeber said firefighters will investigate in conjunction with the coroner's department, the BC Fire Commissioner's Office and Terrace RCMP, who are taking the lead on the investigation.

The investigation won't start until later today or tomorrow morning once a fire safety officer from the fire commissioner's office arrives from Prince George, he said.

Weeber called the fire commissioner's office to send the officer, who is called in as an expert when there's a fatality.

This morning, firefighters arrived to find the house in the 4600 block of Tuck Ave. fully engulfed in flames and when they entered the home, found two bodies inside.

Weeber would not comment on the age or gender of the deceased or speculate on the cause.
Terrace RCMP spokesperson Const. Cindy Nunes confirmed that there were two fatalities in the blaze that began around 5 a.m.

Officers were on site to contain the scene and would be investigating to help determine the cause of the fire, she said.
